Scholarships

FNSA scholarships recognize student leadership, professional involvement, and financial need. All awards are funded through the Florida Nurses Foundation and administered by the FNSA Secretary-Treasurer in collaboration with the Scholarship Selection Committee.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Currently enrolled in an ADN or BSN nursing program in the State of Florida

  • OR a recent graduate (current academic year)

  • In good standing with their academic institution

  • Active NSNA/FNSA membership is required for leadership-based scholarships.

    How to Apply

    Applying for an FNSA scholarship is completed online through the FNSA Scholarship Application. Before beginning your application, review the available scholarships and submission requirements to determine which scholarship opportunities you may qualify for.

    Follow These Steps

    1. Review the Available Scholarships
    Review the FNSA scholarship opportunities below and determine which scholarship(s) best match your eligibility, leadership experience, and financial circumstances.

    2. Gather Your Required Information
    Before beginning the application, have your academic, membership, and supporting information ready. This may include your current GPA, Nursing GPA, NSNA membership number and expiration date, and information from your nursing program.

    3. Prepare Your Supporting Documents
    Applicants must provide all required documentation. Depending on the scholarship, this may include a letter of recommendation, leadership essay, financial information, or documentation demonstrating financial need.

    4. Complete the Online Application
    Complete all required sections of the FNSA Scholarship Application and upload the requested supporting documents.

    5. Review Before Submitting
    Verify that your application is complete, all required documents have been uploaded, and all required signatures and information are included.

    6. Submit by the Deadline
    Applications must be submitted by October 20, 2026 at 7:00 PM EST. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.

    Important: Applicants are responsible for ensuring their application and all required supporting materials are complete before submission.

Leadership Scholarships

These $500 awards recognize outstanding contributions to FNSA and NSNA at the local, state, or national level.

  • Heather Scaglione Leadership Scholarship

  • Dr. Claydell Horne Leadership Scholarship

  • Willa Fuller Leadership Scholarship

  • Mary Tittle Leadership Scholarship

  • Paula Massey Leadership Scholarship

  • Carolyn Keister Leadership Scholarship

  • Carol Petrozella Educational Leadership Scholarship (for students interested in Nursing Education)

Helen Ann Dean Scholarship

This award recognizes leadership at the local and/or state level and is funded through Sustaining Membership and Pennies PRN fundraising efforts. The award amount and number of recipients is determined by available funds.

Submission Requirements

All applicantions must include:

  • Completed scholarship cover sheet

  • Current GPA and Nursing GPA

  • NSNA membership number and expiration date

  • Letter of recommendation from Chapter Consultant or Dean/Director verifying good standing

Additional requirements for Leadership scholarships:

  • One-page, single spaced, 12 point font, typed essay discussing your contributions to SNA membership, what you have gained from your involvement, and how you plan to contribute to professional nursing organizations in the future

  • NSNA membership number and expiration date

Additional Requirements for Helen Ann Dean Scholarship:

  • Completed financial statement section, providing income and expense information

  • Documentation demonstrating financial need

  • Ensure all required signatures are included

  • Submit only complete applications

  • Keep a copy for your records

Selection Process

  • Applications are reviewed by a Scholarship Selection Committee

  • When possible, one consultant from each region serves on the committee

  • The committee determines the number of awards and award amounts based on available funds

Applications due by October 20, 2026 at 7PM EST.

Incomplete applications will not be considered
