COMMUNITY HEALTH COMMITTEE
The Community Health Committee seeks to provide nursing students with an understanding of population health factors that may influence health outcomes within communities. With this in mind, nursing students will be well equipped with the necessary knowledge to address the health needs of diverse populations by identifying the needs in their communities and immersing themselves via volunteering efforts.

Committee chairs appointed by the FNSA President following the annual state convention. Their appointment continues for one year. Committee members are welcome to apply here at any time following the annual state convention. Their appointment continues for one year or up to six months following graduation.

Committee members are expected to work with FNSA and the committee on events, participate in community health initiatives, and provide updates to the FNSA Executive Board. Members are encouraged to attend committee meetings, collaborate with nursing leaders and organizations, and promote student engagement in advocacy, leadership, and political action that seeks to promote public health. The core responsibilities of the committee members will center on proposing, developing, and fulfilling the desired project ideas with their intended effect in the manifestation of:
Working actively to propose new ideas of Community Health opportunities that will serve key populations and corporations on a local and state level.
Continually partner with Community Health centers to produce scalable events that will promote maximum student participation, especially around key times such Martin Luther King Day of Service, Mental Health Month, etc.
Advocate for the need of community health in the nursing profession.
Communicate and coordinate with local schools within the regions to determine their community health involvement and future projects.
Organize and document all health projects passed and the final outcomes of each.

FNSA Bylaws - Article VII, Section 6
SECTION 6. The Committee on Community Health shall:
Be chaired by a Regional Director appointed to the position by the President and approved by the Executive Board at the post-convention Executive Board meeting.
Initiate and maintain contact with local chapters on community health projects.
Consist of members from each region of the state, when possible.
Write articles related to community health for the Hotline.
Distribute information on national and state Community Health Projects to the chapters, when appropriate.
Submit the Community Health state projects to NSNA National Convention.
Work in conjunction with Prevent Blindness of Florida when appropriate.
Perform all other duties pertaining to the office.

Host community health projects at your annual SNA meetings with volunteer sign-ups.
Organize and document all activities that were completed and their outcomes and send them to your Region Director representative and/or FNSA. Select projects will be considered for awards!
Any key projects that you found meaningful, create a presentation or poster for viewing and bring them to State conventions and National conventions for display.
The successful community health projects that you’d like to see scaled, propose them to the FNSA board for review and partnership.
Advocate for Community Health in your SNA and how nursing students can make a wonderful impact here and now through meaningful work.
