The Florida Nursing Students Association (FNSA) Region 2 proudly represents nursing students across North and North Central Florida, bringing together a diverse network of nursing programs committed to student leadership and professional development. The region includes Chamberlain University – Jacksonville, College of Central Florida, Florida Gateway College, Florida State College at Jacksonville, Jacksonville University, Keiser University – Jacksonville, North Florida College, Rasmussen University – Ocala, Santa Fe College, St. Johns River State College, University of Florida, and University of North Florida. Together, these institutions form a strong regional network dedicated to strengthening student engagement, fostering collaboration among nursing programs, promoting advocacy, and creating opportunities for professional growth and leadership development as students prepare to become the next generation of nurses.

Blu Hood proudly serves as the Region 2 Director for the Florida Nursing Students Association (FNSA) and as Membership Committee Chairperson. He is currently a nursing student at Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ), where he also serves as President of the FSCJ Student Nurses’ Association. Through these leadership roles, Blu is committed to amplifying the student nurse voice, strengthening connections among nursing programs, and creating meaningful opportunities for student involvement.

Blu brings a unique clinical background to his nursing journey, with three years of experience in veterinary nursing, including emergency veterinary care. These experiences helped him develop a strong foundation in clinical assessment, patient advocacy, critical thinking, and compassionate care in high-acuity environments. Building on this foundation, Blu has also gained over a year of bedside nursing experience, further strengthening his dedication to patient-centered care and the nursing profession.

As an LGBTQ+ advocate, Blu is passionate about promoting inclusivity, equity, and affirming care for LGBTQ+ patients and communities. He believes nurses have an important role in ensuring patients feel respected, supported, and represented throughout their healthcare experiences.

As Region 2 Director and Membership Committee Chairperson, Blu is dedicated to strengthening FNSA membership, fostering collaboration, and helping nursing students become more connected to their professional community. Through his leadership and clinical experiences, he strives to create opportunities that prepare future nurses to enter the profession with confidence, compassion, and excellence.
