Dear Florida’s nursing students, faculty, consultants, and deans,
Hello, my name is Abbygail Lapinski, and I am honored to serve as your FNSA President for 2018-2019. I am sincerely grateful for this opportunity and the support we have received as a board. This past convention was full of opportunities for students to learn and practice skills relevant to our practice, explore new avenues in nursing, connect with peers and faculty, and advocate for current health issues. As a state, we adopted eight resolutions, elected a new board of executives, and awarded numerous scholarship and awards to nursing students whose leadership, and dedication are already impacting their communities and schools. This past convention only makes me more excited for the year to come and for the opportunity to work with the members, faculty, and chapters from across the state.
Now a little bit about me, I am in my last year in nursing school at the University of Central Florida Orlando campus. I will be closing my journey as a nursing student in May of 2019 and beginning a new one as a graduate nurse. It is my goal to spend the first two years building my nursing foundation in the hospital setting before continuing my formal education.
My vision for this year is to work alongside my fellow board as a team to continue developing our organization through membership, engagement, advocacy, and community involvement. My focus is on providing our members with ample opportunities to grow academically, professionally, and personally. As an organization of over 5,000 members, we are a strong, dedicated group of professionals who the impact lives of our patients, peers, and community every day. Through our efforts on a local, state, and national level, we can grow together as the next generation of nurses and empower others to take this journey with us.
I invite each of you to consider taking this journey with us by becoming or continuing to be involved as a member and as a chapter. If your chapter is not already receiving updates from one of our regional directors or you are interested in starting a new chapter, please feel free to contact the regional directors or myself at the contact information below. Please feel free to reach out to me or one of my fellow board members with any questions, comments, or concerns.
Thank you, and I wish everyone the best in their endeavors!
